If you’re like many, you want to choose contemporary housing, which includes owning apartments and condo units. However, when you consider all the condo buildings and their options, you may notice that the very top of the building is also available for rent. Brooklyn penthouses are an exceptional place to live because they’re exciting and different. Understanding what they are and the benefits/drawbacks can help you make an informed decision.
What Is It?
Primarily, a penthouse takes up the entire top floor of the building. However, some building owners choose to break up the top floor and have two to four Brooklyn penthouses, giving more people access to the topmost area.
Your Options
In most cases, a penthouse offers more luxury than the rest of the building. You may have your own access elevator, private entrances, swimming pools, fireplace, terrace, Jacuzzi and other options that aren’t provided to the rest of the building. However, because it’s a condo or apartment building, you still have access to the amenities available to everyone else.
Advantages
You’ll have the status quo and may be the envy of many friends and family members. While this will wane over time, it can be exciting when you first move in.
You’ll also have more privacy and won’t have to deal with other members if you don’t choose to do so.
Because they’re located in the big city, you’ll be near to all the shopping, dining, and cultural experiences.
Disadvantages
While the advantages are many, there are a few drawbacks to consider. Brooklyn penthouses are more isolated from the rest of the building. If you prefer seclusion, this may be a benefit, but otherwise, it could seem like a disadvantage. Likewise, you may experience elevator delays unless you’re in a building with a personal elevator and entrance.
