Tips To Successful Bed Bugs Extermination

It is very difficult to get rid of bed bugs. In a case of infestation, it is strongly recommended to call a certified pest control specialist. If a home is infested with bed bugs, the owner should immediately contact a Bed Bugs Extermination specialist. If the home is rented, the tenant must inform the landlord. Tenants who are experiencing bed bug problems can also contact a public health worker who will help them manage the situation.

If a person lives in an apartment and the apartment administration asks a tenant to prepare his or her dwelling for bed bug treatment, it usually means that there is an infestation in one of the adjoining apartments. Tenants must store their belongings in bags, wash all their clothes and bedding and move all furniture away from the walls. As a general rule, the Bed Bugs Extermination specialist will advise people on how to prepare for inspection and/or treatment.

Pest control specialists have a variety of means to control bed bugs, including liquid spray insecticides, aerosol insecticides, insecticide powders, diatomaceous tools, pressurized carbon dioxide, and heat or water treatments. To be effective, however, pest control treatments must combine physical methods with preventive measures. Physical methods for controlling bed bugs include steam treatment, vacuum cleaning, heat treatment, freezing, washing, and disposal of certain items. Steam treatment should be done before vacuuming, as steam will dislodge any bed bugs that are still alive. Thermal treatments should be handled by professionals.

Infested (but intact) mattresses, upholstered furniture and stuffed items that cannot be cleaned with hot water and detergent should be steam-treated. Bedbugs do not survive temperatures above 122°F, and the vapor emitted by these cleaners is generally at least 212°F. Dry or low-steam cleaners are preferable because they generate less residual moisture. Only the bedbugs affected by the steam will die, so it is important to slowly move the steam cleaner to ensure the deepest treatment. Avoiding excessive moisture that may favor the growth of mold is also important.

It can be effective to put small items in the freezer or outdoors during the winter. However, the temperature must remain below the freezing point for a certain period of time (four days of constant exposure to cold at 2°F); Nevertheless, this measure does not guarantee the death of all bed bugs.
